Breast revision surgery can be performed to correct an array of breast issues. If you're unhappy with the results of previous breast surgery, revision surgery may be the solution for you. At The Ariel Center, our highly experienced board-certified plastic surgeons carry out complex corrective procedures to achieve the desired breast appearance. During your initial consultation, your goals for revision surgery will be discussed. You will then receive a customized treatment plan to resolve any aesthetic or medical issues that may occur after undergoing a breast augmentation.

Who can benefit from breast revision surgery?

Benefits of breast revision surgery can include:

  • Improved breast symmetry
  • Correction of capsular contracture (when a scar forms a capsule around the implant)
  • Restored breast volume
  • Improved self-esteem and self-confidence

The best candidate for breast revision surgery is in good overall health, has realistic expectations, and has cosmetic concerns about their breasts that cannot be resolved with non-surgical treatments.

What types of breast revision surgeries are there?

Whether the original implants have become displaced, have developed an unfavorable shape, or have simply begun to show their age, breast revision surgery can help patients achieve a more aesthetically pleasing bust. There are many different types of breast revision surgery, and the best option for each patient will depend on her specific concerns. Some of the most common breast revision procedures include:

  • Capsulectomy: removal of the scar tissue that has formed around the implant
  • Explantation: removal of the implant itself
  • Augmentation mastopexy: combination breast augmentation and lift surgery
  • Breast lift: procedure to correct drooping or sagging breasts
